Greece, N.Y. — Five juveniles from Rochester, including an 11-year-old girl, were detained after license plate reading technology led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle, according to the Greece Police Department.
The vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, was spotted Monday traveling in the area of Dewey Avenue after being stolen in Rochester, police said. Officers found the vehicle in the 3800 block of Dewey Avenue and the five young suspects were arrested without incident.
Two boys, ages 14 and 17, and one girl, age 15, are each charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to police. A 16-year-old boy was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. They were each issued expedited appearance tickets and released to their parents.
Police said the 11-year-old suspect was not charged and was released to her parents due to her age.
