The starting point for Florentina Leitner’s fall collection was “The Princess Diaries” movie, especially its sleep-over party scene. “That’s why we envisioned this cloud castle, and our girls kind of dreaming — reaching for the stars,” Leitner said.
Star shapes shot through the collection: They were laser-cut into garments and appearing glittering on models’ faces as they wound their way through a Parisian stately home for the show.
Coziness was the key ingredient for the fashion, with garments in comfy fabrics like cotton and touting some pajama details. Racier were transparent négligés with felted stars.
Each piece had a twist, with the fashion often topped off with tiaras. The jersey hoodie came with a little cotton ruffle detail in the back. Star necklace designs bedecked some jackets and shirts. Handbags appeared in fluffy sheep forms, like clutches out of a dream. Other slumber details included sleeping masks serving as head pieces or scarves.
Since the Florentina Leitner girls are meant to be winners, award sashes and prize ribbon-shaped elements appeared as leitmotifs throughout the fun lineup.
Colors for fall were toned down a bit, scaled back to essentials such as white, black and gray. The brand has a shoe collaboration with Berkemann.
“Being at Paris Fashion Week is so amazing for emerging brands especially like us,” Leitner said. “We’re reaching for the stars.”
