FORESTVILLE — This year, the Forestville Drama Team will present the beloved Broadway hit “Bye Bye Birdie,” a high-energy, family-friendly musical comedy that celebrates the spirit of the late 1950s with unforgettable songs, big dance numbers, and plenty of heart from Thursday to Saturday.
Inspired by the frenzy surrounding early rock and roll icons, “Bye Bye Birdie” tells the story of teen idol Conrad Birdie, who is drafted into the army.
His desperate manager, Albert, schemes to stage a publicity stunt: Conrad will give one lucky girl a farewell kiss on national TV. The plan throws the quiet town of Sweet Apple, Ohio into chaos, poking fun at celebrity worship, generational clashes, and young love with plenty of catchy songs and high-energy humor along the way. Show-stopping musical numbers including “Put On a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do.”
“Bye Bye Birdie” is a celebration of youth, music, and community; a perfect night out for families, alumni, and theatre lovers alike.
The cast stars Silas Dzielski as Conrad Birdie, Jason Ellis as Albert Peterson, Mya Alvarez as Rose “Rosie” Alvarez, Emmie Brinkman as Kim MacAfee, Jaxon Larson as Mr. Harry MacAfee, Angelyz Hodkin as Mrs. Doris MacAfee, Abigail Cook as Mae “Mamma” Peterson, Silas Carpenter as Hugo Peabody, Emma Ruffo as Randi MacAfee and Meredith Stelmack as Ursula Merkle.
