New role will enhance provision of investment strategy perspectives for Limited Partners, and provide strategic advice to Fortress’s investment personnel
New York, March 16, 2026 – Fortress Investment Group today announced the appointment of Elizabeth Burton as Chief Strategist, effective immediately. In this newly created role, Ms. Burton will be based in New York and report directly to Co-CEOs Drew McKnight and Jack Neumark.
As Chief Strategist, Ms. Burton will lead research and analysis on current market conditions and emerging opportunities, and develop insightful and actionable content for existing and prospective investors. She will collaborate across the Fortress franchise, working closely with Chief Investment Officers, investment professionals, and the Client and Product Solutions Group. Ms. Burton’s focus will span broad private markets themes, with particular emphasis on Fortress’s core investment strategies, including corporate credit, asset-based finance, real estate, net lease, and private equity.

Ms. Burton joins Fortress after three years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management where she was Managing Director, Investment Strategist, advising institutional clients on their investment strategy and portfolio objectives. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Ms. Burton was Chief Investment Officer at the Employees’ Retirement System of the State of Hawaii and was a Managing Director in the Quantitative Strategies Group at the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System. Earlier in her career, Ms. Burton held leadership positions as an investor, economist, and consultant in asset management and fixed income trading.
Ms. Burton serves on the Board of Directors of the Chartered Alternative Investment Association (CAIA). In addition, she serves on the board of the Hill School. She holds a BA in Politics and French from Washington and Lee University and an MBA in Finance, Econometrics, and Statistics from the University of Chicago. She is a Charterholder of CAIA.
This appointment follows a series of senior appointments across Fortress’s franchise during 2025 to support the firm’s expanding investment strategies, geographic reach, and capital-raising capabilities. Rob Reynolds joined in June as Managing Director, Head of European Institutional Business Development in the Client and Product Solutions Group (CPSG), and Rob Brindley joined as a Managing Director in European CPSG in September. In May, Giovanni Luna joined as Head of Origination, Europe, and Niccolò Biancheri was appointed as Head of Corporate Credit, Europe. Also in May, Fortress named Chuck Spetka Head of Middle East based in the firm’s new office in Abu Dhabi Global Market.
