FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Middle and high school students from across Fresno County are gearing up for this year’s annual science fair.
More than 250 students spent their Monday setting up their projects at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Organizers say they are excited and proud to see student interest and knowledge in science, mathematics and engineering.
“It’s so important that behind us, these kids are our future doctors, engineers, all of the science fields, so them coming to the science fair today means support for science in our Valley, eventually,” said Jason Horsman, director of STEM for the Fresno County superintendent of schools. “I really can’t wait to see these kids grow and come back to the Valley and support us, and really, the science being done here is incredible.”
On Tuesday, students will be interviewed by judges about their project and the months of experimentation they conducted throughout the school year.
Awards will be announced on Thursday, including thousands of dollars in scholarships and a chance to compete at the state and regional level.
This is the 74th year of the Fresno County Science Fair.
