Fresno Unified teacher picked by state to shape new high school finance curriculum

The California Department of Education selected a Fresno Unified teacher to help develop a statewide high school personal finance curriculum guide.

The move comes after Fresno Unified began providing personal finance classes throughout the district.

Educator Jeff Allen was selected to, help develop a statewide high school personal finance curriculum guide

The development comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced a new stand-alone, one-semester personal finance course.

Allen believes financial literacy can “truly transform lives,” giving students tools to build generational wealth, plan for the future, and avoid predatory financial practices.

The personal finance instruction focuses on real-world skills, including budgeting, paying for college and managing credit, aimed at helping students make smart decisions and create better opportunities for themselves and their families.
