Fringe Fashion Is a Hollywood-Approved Trend for Spring 2026

Culture’s current obsession with ‘90s minimalism has everyone under 30 reaching for pencil skirts and silk blouses. But the women who actually experienced that era are embracing something a little less basic. 

In the past year, I’ve watched fringe go from semi-controversial to something every It girl over 45 has in her closet, from Amal Clooney and Julianne Moore to Heidi Klum and Tracee Ellis Ross. The playful, outfit-making detail immediately injects fun into any look and, when done well, can also be pretty chic. Of course, the trick is finding the right fringe piece (i.e. fashion rather than flapper)—but don’t worry, I went ahead and did that for you.

Nordstrom’s fringe sweater dress is equal parts comfortable and cool. The knit material—a blend of linen, cotton, and nylon—is soft and stretchy, while the slim fit, marled design, and fringe trim all bring a modern feel.

This western-inspired jacket from BlankNYC pairs long fringe with cool silver studs; it’s a piece that can instantly elevate any basic outfit. And because the jacket is such a statement, I would recommend wearing it with simple wardrobe staples (think: a white tee and jeans).
