Young scientists showed off their projects this week in the Inland Empire.
San Bernardino County students’ science fair was Thursday at the University of Redlands, while Riverside County staged its event Friday at the Riverside Convention Center.

Inland students’ experiments tested how light propels spacecraft travel, the science behind building a hovercraft and research on how DNA tweezers can unlock understanding of glioblastoma multiforme tumors along with many other topics.

In Riverside County, 530 students showcased 367 projects across 22 categories in three age categories.
Winners in the Junior and Senior division will advance to the California State Science and Engineering Fair, which will be online April 11. Three senior division students will advance to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair set for May 9-15 in Phoenix.
In San Bernardino County, an awards ceremony for those who competed in the San Bernardino, Inyo, Mono Counties Science and Engineering Fair will take place Thursday in Ontario.
In Riverside County, the public can check out the projects Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. An awards ceremony starts at noon Saturday.
