The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Josh Oduro to a two-way contract. The deal was announced Wednesday.
By joining the team, Oduro, who is from Gainesville, will have the opportunity to make his NBA regular-season debut sometime during the final month of play.
Oduro played the entire season with the Birmingham Squadron, the Pelicans’ G League affiliate. Oduro started with Birmingham after New Orleans cut him last October.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound center averaged 14.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 35 games for Birmingham.
Oduro fills the third and final two-way player spot on the Pelicans’ 18-man roster.
Oduro finished his college career at Providence, where in one season he averaged 15.9 points along with 7.5 rebounds for the Friars.
Oduro began his college career at George Mason, where he was a two-time all-Atlantic 10 first-team selection.
Oduro followed his coach Kim English from George Mason to Providence after English took over the Friars’ program.
Oduro started his high school career at Battlefield, where he played on the freshman team his first year and then on the varsity as a reserve his sophomore season.
He spent his final two high school seasons at Paul VI in Fairfax.
