Two Glen Burnie High School students have earned the top award at the 60th annual Anne Arundel County Public Schools Regional Science and Engineering Expo, giving them a chance to represent the county on an international stage.
Juniors Abdullah Ashraf and Henry Nwobodo were named Grand Award winners for their project, “A Low Cost, Tunable Model for Studying Hypoxia-Driven Growth in A375 Melanoma Cancer Cells Using Jacketed Breathable Silicone-Walled Shake Flasks.”
Their project explored how a low-cost silicone shake flask could be used in cancer research labs to study how low-oxygen conditions affect cancer cell behavior.
