Golden State Warriors star forward named most overrated player in NBA

This is a distinction that no player wants.

On a list of the 10 most overrated players in the NBA right now from Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, Golden State Warriors star forward Draymond Green took the top spot.

Draymond Green named most overrated player in NBA

Swartz argues that the Warriors aren’t getting the same bang for their buck for Green that they used to, with his production not necessarily matching his contract.

“With averages of 8.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 0.6 blocks on 41.7 percent shooting overall and 32.7 percent from three, Green’s offense is essentially limited to a few good passes a game and hard screens. For a guy who’s playing on a $100 million contract, the Warriors are no longer getting their money’s worth,” Swartz wrote.

“Perhaps this is why Green found himself in trade rumors at the deadline for the first time in his 14-year career.”

Again, Swartz is talking about the current campaign only. No one could argue against Green’s impact or import during Golden State’s recent dynastic run.

At 35 though, Green isn’t the same player he once was, and its okay to acknowledge that. Even still, he find ways to positively impact games.

A list of the most overrated players is subjective. While some might agree with Green’s inconclusion, others would likely disagree. At the end of the day, it gives us something to talk about, and that’s the whole point.
