What was the first BTS song to top Billboard’s Hot 100 chart? Which of their hidden tracks starts with the sound of waves crashing on a shore? And where can you find the bus stop on the ‘You Never Walk Alone’ album cover?
If you know the answers to these questions, you’re a prime candidate for the online scavenger hunt that Google has just launched for the K-Pop superstars.
It only works on mobile phones, launched by searching for ‘BTS’ on Google then tapping on a nautical icon that appears at the bottom of the screen.
The hunt involves trivia questions and puzzles organised into quests, with more to drop on 9 March and 16 March to keep the BTS Army guessing.
Shock news: it’s popular! At the time of writing, the fandom has collectively solved more than 5.8m quests – and for any newcomers struggling, fans are aggregating and publishing answers on Reddit and other platforms.
It’s Google’s second activation with BTS following a 2022 collaboration with its Arts & Culture team that used Street View to whisk fans on a tour of meaningful locations for BTS. YouTube has also run a couple of Shorts challenges with the group in the past.
