Funded at 327,000 euros, these studies—conducted by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the ministry—have now been finalized. They outline the school’s mission, organizational structure, curriculum details, infrastructure needs (technical, educational, and building), and required equipment aligned with modern academic and industry standards.
The institution will offer targeted professional education and hands-on training in core areas, including:
- Film production
- Cinematography
- Editing
- Sound engineering
- Post-production
- Animation
“The completion of these studies represents the first crucial step in establishing the State School of Cinematography and Audiovisual Media,” stated Culture Minister Lina Mendoni. “Our goal is to enhance professional training, build skilled human resources, and elevate the overall quality of Greek productions.”
Minister Mendoni emphasized that the school will deliver specialized expertise and practical skills, significantly strengthening the Greek audiovisual industry’s position and competitiveness on the international stage.
Building on the studies’ outcomes, the Ministry of Culture is now advancing to the subsequent implementation phases. The aim is to establish a contemporary public institution that aligns with and supports the national strategy for the development of cinema and audiovisual media in Greece. This initiative is expected to play a vital role in nurturing talent and fostering innovation in one of the country’s growing creative sectors.
