Culture Minister Lina Mendoni visited Cairo on Tuesday to attend the “Cavafeia 2026” festival honoring famed poet Constantine Cavafy, and held talks with Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy.
Both ministers reaffirmed strong relations and agreed to establish an interdisciplinary team focused on monument conservation and modern technology, with joint excavations as a long-term goal.
Fathy endorsed expanding the Ancient Civilizations Forum, which Egypt will chair in 2027.
