The Greek government will open applications for the new Fuel Pass 2026 from April 6 to April 30, 2026, according to a Joint Ministerial Decision signed by the competent ministries of finance, development, interior and digital governance.

Applications will be submitted electronically through the vouchers.gov.gr platform using TAXISnet credentials. Citizens who are unable to complete the process online may submit their application in person through KEP.
Payments are expected to be completed within two working days of application approval. Disbursement will be handled by Information Society S.A., which is responsible for the technical implementation of the programme.
Digital card activation process
Once an application is approved, beneficiaries will receive:
- SMS notification with instructions
- Email containing a link to activate the digital debit card
The subsidy will be credited to a digital card for contactless transactions or alternatively transferred directly to a bank account (IBAN). Approved applications cannot be modified after submission.
Where the Fuel Pass can be used
The digital card can be used exclusively for transactions within specific categories, including:
- Fuel stations and automated fuel pumps
- Public transport services such as buses and ferries
- Rail transport services
- Taxi services
Cash withdrawals and transfers to third parties are not permitted. Transactions are carried out only through electronic POS or online payments.
Vehicle eligibility requirements
Eligible vehicles must:
- Be in circulation
- Be insured
- Have no outstanding road tax obligations
Each applicant may declare only one vehicle, either a car or motorcycle, under ownership, co-ownership or leasing agreement.
Eligibility checks are conducted automatically through systems operated by the AADE, insurance databases and law enforcement authorities.
Income criteria
Beneficiaries must be tax residents of Greece with declared 2024 household income within the following thresholds:
- Single individuals: up to €25,000
- Married couples or civil partnerships: up to €35,000
- Single-parent families: up to €39,000
- Additional €5,000 per dependent child
Subsidy amounts
The subsidy varies depending on vehicle type and place of residence:
Cars (island residents)
- €60 via digital card
- €50 via bank deposit
Cars (mainland residents)
- €50 via digital card
- €40 via bank deposit
Motorcycles (islands)
- €35 via digital card
- €30 via bank deposit
Motorcycles (mainland)
- €30 via digital card
- €25 via bank deposit
Eligible island regions include the North and South Aegean, Ionian Islands, Crete, Attica islands, Sporades, Thassos, Skyros, Samothrace and Ammouliani.
The Fuel Pass programme forms part of ongoing government measures aimed at easing the cost burden of transportation for households amid continued fuel price pressures.
