The Finance Ministry announced Sunday that tenants who received reduced or zero refunds under the new rent-support scheme can correct their tax declarations and claim the full amount by the end of the year.
The refunds are calculated automatically from 2025 tax filings for income earned in 2024. Officials said some payouts were lower because tenants had declared incomplete or incorrect rent information in their E1 forms.
Amended declarations may be filed until December 30, 2025. Corrections submitted by December 12 will be paid by December 30, and those filed by December 30 will be paid by January 15, 2026. Beneficiaries who have not registered a bank account with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue are urged to do so.
The ministry noted that support only applies to rent that is properly declared and matched with electronic leases. Refunds equal one-twelfth of annual rent, capped at 800 to 900 euros, with additional support for students. Officials added that most beneficiaries received more than €100, while low payouts usually reflected short leases, shared rentals or unusually low declared rents.
