Greece & Penfield swear in Democrat Town Supervisors


2026 ushered in a new era of leadership for two Monroe County towns.

In Greece, the town supervisor position is now being held by a Democrat for the first time in 120 years.

Jeffery McCann and other Town Board members took the oath of office on Friday at Greece Town Hall.

McCann has previously said he wants to focus on hiring more police officers and reinstating school resource officers.

In Penfield, Kevin Berry was sworn in on Friday, making him the first Democratic Town Supervisor in more than 40 years.

Berry is also only the second Democrat to serve in that role, and the first openly LGBTQ+ man to serve as town supervisor in the state.
