Greece, N.Y. — A Greece police officer has been terminated following an internal investigation into misconduct and insubordination claims.
The Greece Police Department said Officer Matthew Bachman secretly held multiple jobs while he was on paid leave from an on-duty injury he sustained in September 2023.
A 37-page disciplinary report obtained by 13WHAM in March stated that Bachman, a 17-year veteran of the department, collected $161,000 in pay, plus benefits, from external jobs during his time away from the department. Around that time, he was suspended pending the completion of the disciplinary process, the report said.
Bachman’s wife filed a lawsuit against the town in February claiming that GPS tracking devices were placed on their family vehicles.

Bachman’s wife worked for former deputy town supervisor Michelle Marini, who was also being investigated. Marini avoided jail time after pleading guilty in February to several felony charges for stealing goods and services related to work performed at three homes in the Rochester area, according to prosecutors.

Maureen Bass, attorney for the Bachman family, said in a statement that Bachman has been retired since November 2024.
