During the state visit of Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan to Greece, specialized institutions of the two countries held discussions on advancing cooperation in forensic science, with a particular focus on DNA research.

A meeting took place between Martin Aleksanyan, Deputy Director of Armenia’s Ministry of Health “Forensic Medical Scientific-Practical Center,” and Maria Kakogia, Director of the Hellenic Police Forensic Science Division. The sides explored opportunities to deepen bilateral collaboration in forensic expertise, especially in the field of DNA analysis.

In light of the friendly interstate relations between Armenia and Greece, the Greek side expressed its readiness to provide DNA examination services to Armenia under special mutually beneficial conditions.

The initiative aims to promote the exchange of professional experience and strengthen technological cooperation in the forensic field.

Both parties highly appreciated the established professional dialogue and their joint efforts toward building cooperation. The Greek side also emphasized its willingness to continue discussions on next steps, formalize cooperation, and move toward practical implementation, noting openness to further communication and potential formats of collaboration.

The reached understandings carry both practical and strategic importance for Armenia’s Forensic Medical Scientific-Practical Center, as they could contribute to expanding international professional cooperation in DNA analysis and enable the use of external expert and laboratory resources under favorable conditions, particularly for complex or specialized examinations.
