Retail sales in Greece declined 1.7% year-on-year in September 2025, reversing from a 3.8% increase in August, marking the first contraction in four months.
The drop was driven by food sales (-3.6% vs 5.0% in August), a sharper decline in automotive fuel (-7.2% vs -2.4%), and slower growth in non-food items (2.7% vs 6.9%).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity fell 2.0%, reversing from a modest 0.1% rise in August.
