As the US continues to combat winter’s chill—thanks a lot, Punxsutawney Phil—Australia is in the midst of its sunny summer season.
With this in mind, Vogue Australia welcomed the warmth in style by celebrating the first Vogue Australia Summer Ball on Friday, Feb. 13. According to the outlet itself, the event was a “half-day summit” featuring “panelists from the worlds of fashion, music, film and beauty.” Among the many stylish celebrities in attendance was Hailey Bieber, who definitely got the summery memo.
On the red carpet, the model and rhode beauty brand founder rocked a vintage Versace gown, looking like a luxe ray of sunshine. As noted by InStyle, the piece appeared to be pulled from the designer’s 2006 spring/summer collection, with the model embracing the ever-popular Y2K trend fashion fans have come to love over the last few years.
The archival piece was crafted in a silky pastel yellow shade, perfect for the spring-to-summer wardrobe transition. The halter-style neckline hugged Bieber’s bust before cascading into a deep, dramatic plunge that ended at her waist. Delicate silver beading was thoughtfully placed throughout, adding fabulous texture, and the tulle trim on the skirt provided a dreamy, romantic edge, further accentuating the sleek silhouette. She kept the accessories to a minimum to allow the designer duds to shine, opting for only a pair of sparkling earrings and, of course, her wedding band.
For her hair, the model parted her dark tresses down the center before slicking them back into a tight bun, keeping her neckline bare. Her makeup was pure rose-tinted perfection, with pinched pink cheeks, glistening gold eyes and glossy nude lips as excellent final touches.
And the brand founder’s fashion-forward focus didn’t stop with just her ensemble. While walking the red carpet, she chatted with Vogue Australia about some of her favorite fashion trends from the past—namely, from 2016. “I did love all the colored hair,” Bieber told the outlet. “Like, I had pink hair back in 2016, and I look at pictures, and I’m like, ‘You know what? She was a good time!’ … We miss her!”
While the model specifically noted that she doesn’t know if she’ll ever personally revive the look, her fans certainly feel differently, with several taking to the comments on the outlet’s Instagram post to share their thoughts (and pleas). “We need the pink hair BACK,” one commenter demanded. Another seconded the sentiment, adding, “GET THE PINK HAIR BACK MS. RHODE!!!!! IT WAS ICONIC!!!”
Whether we’ll ever see pink hair on Bieber again remains to be seen, but, in the meantime, we’ll settle for yellow in the form of this gorgeous designer gown!
