After years of silence, he is finally back. It is no secret that Harry Styles, the former One Direction member, is private. From a video quietly released on a secret YouTube channel to being spotted running the Berlin Marathon, the star has seemingly lived many lives during his time away from the spotlight. It makes sense, as Styles has spent much of his life in the public eye. Now, he has once again taken center stage with his newly released single, “Aperature,” and album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.”
Before the release of Styles’ new album and single, he had spent two years largely out of the public eye, much of it in Italy. Styles was even spotted running the Berlin Marathon, finishing in an impressive time of under three hours.
Styles’ last major chapter came with the release of “Harry’s House.” After years of releasing singles and albums, the singer released “Harry’s House,” won a Grammy and embarked on his most successful tour yet. Love On Tour ran from Sept. 4, 2021, to July 22, 2023. Then, almost as suddenly as he had dominated the stage, he disappeared.
“At the end of the tour, the idea of taking time out felt insane. I didn’t know if I could do it, but it was the right time for me,” Styles said in an interview. “We finished the tour in July and I was turning 30 in February, it was time for me to stop for a bit and pay some attention to other parts of my life.”
Styles’ musical silence was broken on Dec. 27, 2025, with a mysterious video posted to his YouTube channel from his final show in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The video ended with the words “We Belong Together,” prompting fans to speculate about new singles, an album and even a tour. It is safe to say Styles did not disappoint.
Styles hit the ground running with his single “Aperture.” He also announced his album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.,” and his “Together, Together” tour. The tour is set to run from May through December 2026, including a 30-night run at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“Aperture,” released Jan. 22, was the first taste of Styles’ new era. The song carries a groovy, slow-building electronic sound driven by a pulsing synth bass, but its deeper appeal lies in its metaphorical lyrics. In the song, Styles sings, “Aperture lets the light in,” capturing the idea of opening yourself up to love and clarity.
Released March 6, Styles’ new album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.,” quickly made an impact, earning 63.05 million streams on its first day alone. There is good reason for the album’s success. It blends indie pop with rock across a carefully curated set of songs.
The album opens with the previously released single “Aperture.” Although it serves as the opening track, Styles has said it was actually the last song he wrote.
“I’d had a couple years away from work stuff and had a lot of big realizations, [I was] just generally opening up more to the world and allowing some more positive things to come into my life,” Styles said in an interview. “[‘Aperture’] was like a perfect little bow, and once this song happened it was like, ‘Oh, the record’s finished.’”
With its disco-leaning groove, “Aperture” embodies the dance influence hinted at in the album’s title. Other songs, including “Ready, Steady, Go!,” “Dance No More” and “American Girls,” are similarly tied together by strong bass lines and funky synth beats.
Coming right after the hit “Aperture” on the track list, “American Girls” had big shoes to fill, and Styles delivered once again. The song celebrates charisma, highlighting the magnetic personalities some people possess. It is a lighthearted, danceable track with a bouncy bass line and vocals that feel natural and approachable. Styles has described the song as heartwarming, saying his friends served as part of the inspiration.
“I watched my three closest friends get married, and actually seeing them trust in something and risk something to find something truly fulfilling in a way that isn’t as shiny and on paper was exciting,” Styles said in an interview. “‘American Girls’ is actually about watching them get married, and there just is a magic when you find the right person that you want to be with.”
While the disco influences on the album highlight its danceable sound, the phrase “kiss all the time” in the album’s title points to its deeper focus on love and connection. That theme is especially present in “Paint By Numbers.”
“Paint By Numbers” is undoubtedly my favorite song on the album. Styles takes a slower approach on the track. The song explores the repetition of a routine relationship and the desire for spontaneity and expression. It reflects the idea that loving someone should not feel dull or overly structured, instead leaning into the album’s “kiss all the time” theme, where love feels alive, open and emotionally engaging. With layered, gentle vocals, “Paint By Numbers” conveys the vulnerability at the heart of the song.
“Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.” is a carefully crafted interplay between rhythm and reflection. The disco-influenced beats of songs like “Aperture” and “American Girls,” paired with the more subdued sound of “Paint By Numbers,” create a compelling album. Through this duality, Styles does not just present a collection of songs. He creates a world where dance and affection coexist as equal parts of life. The title itself suggests that to live fully, one must kiss all the time, embracing love, and disco occasionally, making room for joy and celebration.
