HKC Launches World’s First 1080Hz “720P” Gaming Monitor, Also Features 2K @ 540Hz Mode, A New Trend Setter In The 1000Hz+ Monitor Segment

HKC has become the world’s first display maker to unveil a 720p gaming monitor with a refresh rate of up to 1080Hz, the highest in the market.

1000Hz+ Gaming Monitors Are The New Standard for eSports Gamers: HKC Unveils Its Very Own 1080Hz “720P” Gaming Monitor

Lately, we have seen several high refresh rate gaming monitors pop up in the market with 1000Hz or higher refresh rates. Display makers such as Samsung, ASUS, Philips, LG, AOC, & AntGamer, have been rolling out ultra-high-refresh-rate monitors in 1080p and 720p flavors, offering 720Hz, 1000Hz, & up to 1040Hz refresh rates.

But HKC has managed to become the first to launch the highest refresh rate monitor rated at 1080Hz. The latest ANTGAMER ANT275PQ MAX gaming monitor features two modes, one rated at 2K (1440p) at 540Hz, and the other rated at HD (720p) at 1080Hz. Samsung recently announced its 1040Hz (720p) Odyssey G6 G60H, which features dual mode technology with a secondary 2K (1440p) at 600Hz mode.

  1. Balancing picture quality and smoothness: QHD 540Hz mode
Using 2K (QHD) resolution matched with a 540Hz refresh rate, it provides an immersive, silky smooth, all-around experience for players who pursue both picture quality and smoothness.
  2. Extreme performance unleashed: HD 1080Hz mode
This mode achieves an extreme refresh rate of 1080Hz, specifically created for hardcore competitive gamers, deciding victory or defeat in an instant with near-zero latency response.

HKC hasn’t detailed much about the panel itself, nor its brightness, color space, or I/O configuration, but it is pretty much a given that the monitor will support the latest HDMI 2.1 and DP 2.1 standards to fully support the high refresh rate. The gaming monitor is aimed at eSports gamers, and HKC claims to offer near-zero ms latency.

With so many manufacturers hopping on board the 1000Hz+ refresh rate bandwagon, it is likely that there is a demand for such designs, especially if they offer dual mode technology, which enables gamers to go super-low latency with high refresh rates, or go the fidelity route with 2K/4K modes while retaining decent refresh rates in the 200-600Hz range.

HKC hasn’t detailed the pricing of the gaming monitor, but besides the 1080Hz design, they have also introduced the world’s first RGB Mini LED monitor featuring a 4K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and 1000 Nits of peak brightness. The monitor also supports up to 330Hz refresh rate at FHD (1080P) and comes in a 27″ form factor.
