Following the completion of shooting in Capri and along the Italian coasts, “Eternity,” directed by Jamie Marshall (known for the series Harlots on Hulu and The Capture), is currently continuing its production schedule in Greece.
The film marks the largest international cinematic production of the year in the country, officially commencing on October 29th in Methana, where the local community offered an enthusiastic and warm welcome.
Eternity: High-profile cast and plot background
“Eternity” features an exceptionally high-caliber cast of international stars:
- Nolan Gerard Funk (Glee, The House at the End of the Street) leads the cast in the starring role.
- William H. Macy (Oscar nominee for Fargo).
- Greg Kinnear (As Good as It Gets).
- Bérénice Marlohe (Skyfall), who makes a powerful return to the spotlight as “Lady Véronique.”
While specific plot details are tightly guarded, the film is known to involve the journey of an imposing 75-meter superyacht navigating Greece’s enchanting seas and coastlines. This setting suggests a narrative focusing on luxury, drama, and the stunning Mediterranean environment, utilizing the country as more than just a scenic backdrop.
Production logistics and Greek contribution
The Greek portion of the production schedule involves 32 days of filming across various stunning locations, including Methana, Athens, Porto Heli and Crete.
Full production coordination in Greece is handled by Central Athens Film Productions. The team undertook over six months of intensive pre-production, covering every detail from location scouting and set modification to the construction of specialized sets, unique costume creation, and atmospheric prop design. Crucially, the process involves the full technical support and expertise of more than 300 Greek film professionals.
The film is produced by Janette Wolturno (CatchLight Studios) and John Mason (JMason Entertainment). “Eternity” is actively supported by EKOME (National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication), underscoring the critical role of Greek cinematic incentives (the 40% cash rebate and tax relief) in attracting major international productions.
Greece’s role in global cinema
The magnitude of “Eternity” spectacularly confirms that Greece is no longer just a picturesque setting, but has evolved into a leading “character” in the global film industry.
By showcasing the journey of the superyacht across its magnificent seas and shores, the film highlights the dynamism of the Greek audiovisual sector and promotes the country as a top European film destination.
