The Ibrox club reached the quarter-final stage of the competition where they lost to Athletic Bilbao

Rangers have learned how much they earned from last season’s run to the Europa League quarter-finals after UEFA released their yearly financial report.

Having failed to qualify for the Champions League after a shock defeat to Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv, then-Philippe Clement’s side dropped into Europe’s second-tier competition and participated in the first ever 36-team ‘League Phase’.

They faced eight different clubs between September 2024 to January 2025, eventually progressing to the last eight which saw the Light Blues pocket €20,705,000 (approximately £18million) in total for their efforts.

That sum is made up of a combined Qualifying Bonus, Value Pillar, League Phase, and League Ranking, as well as Round of 16 and Quarter-finals bonuses. UEFA’s full 2024/25 financial report can read here.

Rangers kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win over Malmo in Sweden, before suffering a heavy 4-1 home defeat at the hands of French outfit Lyon on Matchday Two. They bounced back with a 4-0 victory over Romanian side FCSB, which was followed by a 1-1 draw against Olympiacos in Greece.

The Ibrox men then earned a valuable 4-1 away win to Ligue 1 strugglers Nice in the south of France, before a ‘Battle of Britain’ double-header against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, picking up a solitary point against the North London club in the process.

They rounded off their League Phase with a 2-1 win against Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium, a result which secured automatic qualification into the Round of 16 thanks to their league position.

Drawn at home to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, then-interim boss Barry Ferguson enjoyed a night to savour as the Gers KO’s the Turkish giants after a dramatic penalty shoot-out before they were eliminated in the following round by La Liga big guns Athletic Bilbao, losing 2-0 in the second leg after drawing at Ibrox.
