Refresh

A new take on a retro controller, now at an all-time low

CRKD might be known for its Nitro Deck and Nitro Deck+ joy-con alternatives for the original Switch but the company also makes a fantastic retro-style controller. The CRKD NEO S feels like an old-school gamepad but with a modern twist. Not only is it wider than a SNES controller but there are also two remappable buttons on the back.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 promo image

Right now, the Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Nintendo Switch is down to just $59 at Walmart. You’re getting two fantastic games in this deal. In Super Mario Galaxy, join Rosalina and the Lumas to restore the Comet Observatory and rescue Princess Peach, using power-ups like the Bee and Boo Mushrooms.

In the sequel, team up with Yoshi and Lubba aboard Starship Mario, using Yoshi’s unique abilities and power-ups like the Dash Pepper and Blimp Fruit! There’s also additional content to be enjoyed, including new Storybook chapters, additional music, and an Assist Mode for extra health and fall recovery.

A purr-fect game for cat lovers

Stray video game

Stray is a fantastic game and it runs well on both the OG Switch and the Switch 2. We gave it 4-stars in our review, stating that it shouldn’t dismissed as “merely a cat stimulator, as this adventure game will appeal to more than just feline fanatics.” The game is set in a dystopian, cyberpunk-like world and it’s highly detailed.

You encounter robots who become your allies, and you can scratch on different surfaces (like a real cat) and even push things off heights (again, like a real cat). Having finished the game a few times, I have to say, it will make you cry. Right now, it’s 30% off at Amazon!

What game would you like to see ported to the Switch 2?

Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3

We’ve seen some great games ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, including (but not limited to) Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Hogwarts Legacy, and more. But are there any games you wish got ported to the handheld wonder? Personally, I would love to see Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Switch 2. Because the Switch 2 has a Mouse Mode, it would make playing the turn-based RPG much easier, and I would love to travel with my party.

I believe the Switch 2 could run Baldur’s Gate 3 well too, considering that Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t awful or unplayable, running at a solid 40fps. The Switch 2 is also a beast for co-op, so playing Baldur’s Gate 3 online or in couch co-op mode shouldn’t be an issue. Who knows what the future holds!

Upgrade your setup with the 5-star rated headset

A black SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P wireless gaming headset

We gave the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 a full 5-star rating in our review. That’s pretty rare. Our reviewer Nikita loves its comfortable design that’s easy to wear for hours; it’s excellent sound quality; its easy to use companion software; and its long battery life.

So yeah, even at full price we’d recommend this headset. This is Black Friday, though, and that means you don’t need to pay full price. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 is currently $45 off at Amazon — a huge saving of 30%.

What you gonna do without storage?

If you’re on a game-buying spree this Black Friday, you’re going to need storage. Thankfully, this 512GB Samsung P9 Express MicroSD is currently on sale for just $74 at Amazon, which is the lowest price we’ve ever seen it drop.

This MicroSD card boasts up to 800Mb/s read/write speeds, making it ideal for use when gaming. You can also pick up the 256GB model for just $47.

The GameSir Cyclone 2 is still on sale!

“This $49 TMR controller is all you need to elevate your gaming experience” is how we summed up the GameSir Cyclone 2 in our review. This magnetic controller features customizable magnetic thumbsticks (meaning no stick drift) and triggers, making it perfect for a wide variety of games.

Better yet, it’s super affordable. And even more so now. You can get the GameSir Cyclone 2 for $44 at Amazon. That’s 20% off!

Should you buy a Switch 2 this Black Friday?

A Nintendo Switch 2 handheld console

The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t discounted for Black Friday, and we weren’t expecting that it would be. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy it. We gave the Switch 2 4.5-stars in our review, and Rory, our Senior Entertainment Editor, dubbed it a “fantastic hybrid console.” He loved the console’s upgraded performance, stunning 7.9-inch display, the redesigned Joy-Cons, and the new ‘Mouse Mode.’

Although I personally don’t own a Switch 2 (yet), I’ve spent many hours testing accessories by playing on our review unit, and I have to say, it’s an amazing upgrade over the OG Switch. I especially adore the Joy-Cons which feel a little more ergonomic than the old ones!

Luckily, Amazon is stocking the Switch 2 right now, but we don’t know how long these stocks will last, so grab your Switch 2 NOW!

My eyes can hardly believe this Zelda Amiibo deal

An Amiibo based on a Zelda character

(Image credit: Nintendo / Tom’s Guide)

Black Friday has brought with it discounts on not just Nintendo Switch consoles and games, but on Amiibo figurines too. The Yunobo Amiibo from The Legend of Zelda is currently 67% off at Amazon — so you’re spending just $9!

Is this figurine just a statement piece? Nope. It lets you receive random items in the Breath of the Wild and the Tears of the Kingdom games. All you need to do is tap the figurine against the NFC touchpoint and you’re good to go.

Who needs the Pro Controller when you can grab this one for much, much less?

Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Controller

The Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless is available for $49 at Amazon for Black Friday, making it more of a steal than it was at its retail price. Decked in Mario colors that glow in the dark, the Rematch Wireless is a fantastic gamepad for the Switch family.

Featuring analog thumbsticks and triggers that are highly responsive and motion controls, not only does the Rematch Wireless make games feel more immersive, but it’s extremely comfortable, too. There are also two rear buttons that can be remapped on the fly. This is the controller you get if you enjoy a bit of whimsy as well as power.

The best wired headset for Switch 2? I think so!

A blue and red Turtle Beach Airlite Fit wired gaming headset for the Nintendo Switch

When I reviewed the Turtle Beach Airlite Fit for the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Switch, I gave the headset 4.5-stars. Why, you ask? Firstly, even at its retail price, it’s very cheap, so it’s the perfect headset for those on a budget. Second, it sounds great. It creates immersive soundscapes, thanks to the 40mm drivers.

It comes with a flip-to-mute mic that makes you sound loud and clear, and I really like its colorful design, which complements the Switch’s playful nature. This is a budget headset that performs like a premium one! Right now, the Airlite Fit is available for just $22 at Amazon.

A WONDERful deal on one of the best Mario games

The best Nintendo Switch multiplayer games

Remember I said my partner wasn’t into gaming but she makes a couple exceptions every now and then? Well, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is one of the couch co-op games she loves, so it’s perfect to play with your non-gamer friends and family. Right now, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is down to $50 at Walmart. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this game even at its full price, so there’s no excuse to not score this deal!

We gave the game 4.5-stars in our review, praising its excellent, colorful visuals and characters, ‘Badge’ mechanic that adds a new level of strategy, and ‘Wonder Flowers’ which significantly alter levels, taking you through time and space.

Two Assassin’s Creed games in one, now for less

While the latest Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is on pre-order for the Nintendo Switch 2, you can get your AC fix with this killer deal. Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection is currently down to just $39 at Amazon, and it includes both Black Flag and Rogue!

As someone who has played every single entry in the franchise, I can vouch for the fact that Black Flag is a great game, especially for those who want to sail the seas while taking down Templars. Rogue flips things on its head by making you play as a Templar, and it’s quite an underrated gem.

One of the best Sonic games is 50% off for Black Friday

A screenshot of Sonic x Shadow Generations

Sonic x Shadow Generations is one of the series’ best. Period. This nostalgia-filled serving is exactly what a remastered re-release should be. It includes a remaster of Sonic Generations alongside a brand new game featuring the Blue Blur’s red-eyed nemesis as the protagonist.

In my review, I gave the game 4-stars for its outstanding level design, ‘Doom Powers’ that make Shadow OP, excellent music, callbacks to previous games, and for faithfully remastering a classic. This action platformer is a trippy adventure through time and space, and it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Currently 50% off at Amazon, Sonic x Shadow Generations is an outstanding (and easily loveable) game.

Score! EA Sports FC 26 is at its LOWEST-EVER price for Black Friday

EA Sports FC 26

(Image credit: Electronic Arts / Tom’s Guide)

I’ve played FIFA — now known as EA Sports FC — for as long as I can remember, and this Black Friday deal on the latest iteration is too good to pass up. EA Sports FC 26 on the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently 57% off at Amazon. That’s a ridiculously good deal, considering this game came out only this year.

In our review, we said that EA Sports FC 26 “delivers one of the biggest gameplay upgrades in years,” and we praised the game for its fantastic gameplay presets, unrivalled authenticity, and fan-requested improvements which have been implemented well. For soccer fans and gamers, this game is a must-have.

The cutest little webcam just got a price cut

A Hori Piranha Plant Camera for Nintendo Switch 2

Did you know that you can plug a webcam into the Nintendo Switch 2 when you’re playing certain games, like Mario Kart World? You can use the official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera for it… or you can treat yourself to the (very adorable) HORI Piranha Plant Cam, currently down to $36 at Amazon!

I’ll be honest, the Piranha Plant Cam doesn’t have the best or clearest resolution as it’s limited to just 480P, but it’s super cute and makes for a great statement piece. In my review, I couldn’t stop gushing about its lovely design, easy plug-and-play setup, and the fact that it can be used as a regular webcam too. In fact, my Piranha Plant Cam sits atop my monitor at work, keeping a watchful eye.

A compact storage solution for 24 (!) Switch games

A case to store 24 Switch games

(Image credit: Amazon / Tom’s Guide)

Looking for a compact yet sturdy storage solution for your collection of Nintendo Switch games? Amazon Basics’ storage case stores up to 24 games, and it’s down to just $7 at Amazon for Black Friday! I personally own this case so I can vouch for its robust build and compact size. It features handy cartridge holders for easily slipping game cards in and out.

This specific model is compatible with games you can play on the Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED. If you want one for Switch 2 games, check out this case from FYY which holds up to 24 Switch 2 cartridges and features 48 microSD card slots — down to just $7 at Amazon as well.

Is this Sonic karting game better than Mario Kart World?

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds promotional showing Sonic in his kart racing against some rivals

Hi there! I’m Nikita, a senior reviews writer, and I’m taking over from our How-To Editor to bring you the latest (and greatest) Black Friday Switch 2 deals. If you’re a fan of karting games, it’s worth checking out Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, currently available for just $39 at Amazon. In my review, I said that this game “makes Mario Kart World look like child’s play.”

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is an extremely fun, chaotic karting game which presents a bit of a learning curve, and it wins big when it comes to smooth drifting and air tricks that give you significant boosts. Voice acting is a nice touch, and extensive kart and ‘Gadget Plate’ customization means you can strategize in different ways and fine-tune your style. For me, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is the karting game of the year.

Affordable controller with hall effect? Yes Sir

GameSir Super Nova

We can’t talk about wireless gaming controllers without pointing to one of our favorites, the GameSir Super Nova Wireless Gaming Controller which we gave 4.5 starts after testing.

The GameSir Super Nova is currently available at Amazon for $39, which is a 33% reduction in it’s usual price. It has hall effect triggers for immersive gaming, and is ergonomic for longer gaming sessions. It also comes with a charging dock that had running RGB. Total win.

Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Controller at an all-time-low price

Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless

As budget controllers go, the Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless is a fantastic gamepad for the Nintendo Switch family. It has analog thumbsticks and triggers that are highly responsive, which creates a more immersive experience for your gaming. It even has motion controls.

Not only does the Rematch Wireless make games feel more immersive, but it’s extremely comfortable, too. I’ve used it for countless games of Mario Kart World and for just $46 at Amazon, the Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless is game changer (and looks great too).

Triple your Switch 2 storage for $74

Samsung MicroSD card deal

The Samsung P9 Express 512GB microSD card is $74 at Amazon (25% off). The Switch 2’s 256GB of internal storage fills up fast — titles like Cyberpunk 2077 demand around 60GB. Doubling your storage capacity means you’re not constantly deleting games to make room.

The Samsung P9 Express handles loading speeds well, so you won’t notice performance drops. At $74, it’s solid value for essentially tripling your Switch 2’s total capacity.

This RGB-lit Switch 2 controller beats Nintendo on price

PDP Afterglow Switch 2 control with BF badge

Planning to dive into multiplayer sessions of Mario Kart or Split Fiction on your Switch 2? The PDP Afterglow Wave controller just dropped to $49, making it a smart alternative to Nintendo’s pricier Pro Controller.

This officially licensed gamepad replicates the Pro Controller’s layout and feel while undercutting it on price. You get all the essential buttons, solid build quality, and comfortable ergonomics for extended play sessions. Plus customizable RGB lighting that cycles through colors and adds some visual flair to your setup.

At $10 off, it’s an easy pickup if you need a second controller for couch co-op or just want a backup.

This Black Friday, the Switch 2 bundle is the smarter buy

Nintendo Switch 2 with Mario Kart World on the screen and a Tom's Guide deal badge added for Black Friday

Nintendo rarely discounts its latest hardware, that’s just how they operate. But bundles? That’s where the savings hide.

The Mario Kart World Bundle pairs the Switch 2 console with the latest entry in Nintendo’s legendary kart racing series for $499. Buy them separately and you’d pay $529, so you’re pocketing $30 in savings while getting both essentials in one shot.

Mario Kart World is one of the Switch 2’s flagship launch titles, making this bundle a smart move whether you’re buying for yourself or gifting. Stock moves fast on Nintendo bundles, so don’t hesitate if this is on your list.
