Idaho State Board of Education awards grant to OJSHS Drama and Fashion Design | School News

Recently, the Orofino Junior Senior High School (OJSHS) Drama and Fashion Design programs received a grant from the Idaho State Board of Education.

This Rural Arts grant, which was applied for by OJSHS, requesting $4,000, was given in the form of $3,947.75.

This grant will go towards fabrics, trims, specialty materials, equipment upgrades, and storage and maintenance supplies.

In recent years, drama and arts participation have risen significantly within the school. Currently, more than 50 students are involved in a class or group that will be impacted by this grant.

With additional support, the drama program will see many enhancements with student-designed costumes, deeper engagement in fashion design coursework, and allow more students to pursue creative projects that would not otherwise be possible.

Received on Nov. 3, this grant has the ability to greatly increase the support of our rural school in many aspects, beginning with the Drama and Fashion Design programs.
