Step aside blue turf and all things football–the ‘famous potatoes’ take the cake for Idaho fame (it even says as much on our license plates)!
Our very own potatoes (and potato sacks) have been the talk of the internet for days now. You might be shocked to know that the ‘virality’ of it all was spawned from…the fashion community?

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, the designer, Cartier Dior Eliasen, shared the inspiration and vision behind the ‘Haute Potato Collection’:
I come from a long line of Idaho potato farmers in American Falls, Idaho (the heart of potato country!), so when the Idaho Potato Commission approached me with this idea to celebrate Idaho potatoes and the farmers behind them, I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of making it happen. My love for my home state has always been a major influence on my work — from colorful tie dye fabrics inspired by the sunset over the Rocky Mountains, to gowns inspired by monarch butterflies (Idaho’s State Insect!), and even looks inspired by Napoleon Dynamite (IYKYK). It truly feels like the stars aligned in every way possible to make this collection happen. I am so beyond grateful to be able to represent Idaho’s farming heritage and the hard work and dedication of my family and neighbors on such a large stage.
From the heart of potato country to New York Fashion Week? That’s certainly a claim to fame that Idahoans should be bragging about and we couldn’t be more proud of Cartier Dior Eliasen!
Few things are more complimentary than a professional returning to their roots on even the largest of stages.
