Night had fallen over the docks. In the distance, the silhouette of an idle crane stood out, while a David Bowie song echoed through the cold, damp air. By the waterfront, behind the walls of a complex reached by walking among elegant rows of candles, the party was in full swing. On the evening of November 19, in a former industrial area of the port, the Marta Ortega Pérez Foundation hosted the opening of “Wonderland,” an original exhibition dedicated to the legendary American photographer Annie Leibovitz.
A select group of several dozen guests attended, including legendary supermodel Linda Evangelista, fashion designer Alexandre de Betak and Ben Gorham, founder of cosmetics brand Byredo. The evening also drew well-known figures from the world of entertainment, such as filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and Madrid-based singer C. Tangana.
Big names and a dazzling event, set in a space where nothing was left to chance, even though A Coruña, buffeted by wind and waves on Spain’s lesser-known Atlantic coast, is not Ibiza. “In just a few years, the Marta Ortega Pérez Foundation has firmly put itself on the map,” explained French curator Matthieu Humery, a renowned photography curator and artistic adviser to Leibovitz. “When you make the journey to visit the foundation, it is always worth it.”
