WANA (Nov 12) – The 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival has concluded, with Iranian filmmaker Mehrnoosh Aalia’s feature “1001 Frames” receiving two major awards.

 

The film won the Best Film Award in the “Film Forward” section, accompanied by an €8,000 cash prize, as well as the Fischer Audience Award, marking a notable international recognition for the Iranian director.

 

According to reports, the festival’s Golden Alexander – Theo Angelopoulos Award for Best Film went to “The Cotton Queen” by Palestinian director Suzanne Mirghani.

 

Other awards presented at the closing ceremony included:

 

  • Silver Alexander Award and Best Cinematography to the Greek film “Coastal Search” directed by Aristotelis Maragkos
  • Best Actor Award to Harry Melling for his role in “The Column”
  • Best Actress Award to Sabrina Amali for her performance in “Maison”
  • Best Screenplay Award to “Carla” written by Christiana Tornatzis
