Get live updates by joining our FB group – Geneva Jazz Festival – Scott LaFaro Celebration. Watch for news about our open jam sessions at The Linden Social Club.

The Geneva Jazz Festival – Scott LaFaro Celebration was founded in 2022 to bring more jazz to the central Finger Lakes. While jazz remains a vibrant genre in city areas, it is often sparsely represented in rural areas, and since Geneva was home to Scott LaFaro, one of the most influential bass players in jazz, the festival was born. Co-Founders, Janelle Bradshaw and Michael Gonzalez, in cooperation with many local businesses, have been able to present national, regional, and local talent for the local community.

Scott LaFaro (April 3, 1936 – July 6, 1961) was an American jazz double bassist known for his work with the Bill Evans Trio. LaFaro broke new ground on the instrument, developing a counter melodic style of accompaniment rather than playing traditional walking basslines, as well as virtuosity that was practically unmatched by any of his contemporaries. Despite his short career and death at the age of 25, he remains one of the most influential jazz bassists. (wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott LaFaro)

Community is where it’s at. Whether you are a jazz player, fan, enthusiast or new to jazz, come on out and connect with others! We would love to see you, and we are sure you will enjoy the diverse players and styles of jazz music that are presented in this year’s festival. You may walk out feeling better than when you came in!

Singer, author, actress, and television host Trisha Yearwood rocketed to fame in the early 1990s. Signed to MCA Nashville, she released her self-titled album in 1991. Its lead single, “She’s in Love with the Boy,” rose straight to No. 1 on Billboard’s country charts – the first time for a debut single since Connie Smith’s “Once a Day,” 27 years prior – and brought her an immediate fan base. Three other singles from the album breached the Top 10, catapulting the sales of Trisha Yearwood to make the LP country music’s first platinum debut in two decades.

    Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana presents QUINTO ELEMENTO (Fifth Element), a powerful new work by internationally acclaimed dancer‑choreographer Patricia Guerrero, featuring an original live score by Francis Gómez. In this boundary‑pushing creation, Guerrero explores ether—the invisible yet ever‑present “fifth element”—using flamenco’s expressive language as both a foundation and a force to transcend traditional aesthetics. Celebrated for her deep command of flamenco and her fearless deconstruction of the form, Guerrero seeks to reveal flamenco’s own intangible essence, resulting in a work of striking, unconventional beauty.

One of America’s premier flamenco companies, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana reaches more than 30,000 people nationwide each year through performances and inclusive educational programs. Under the artistic leadership of Carlota Santana—honored by Spain with La Cruz de la Orden al Mérito Civil and hailed by Dance Magazine as “The Keeper of Flamenco”—the company has premiered over 30 original works and championed arts education and artist development initiatives since its founding in 1983. Guided by the belief that flamenco’s diverse cultural influences give it a unique power to build bridges, Flamenco Vivo continues its mission to preserve, expand, and celebrate flamenco as a vibrant living art form.
