Jason Blundell Forms Another New Studio

Dark Outlaw Games has only been shut down for a little over a week, and the former head, Jason Blundell, has already formed another new studio.

During a recent appearance on colleague JCbackfire’s stream, Blundell announced the formation of MagicFractal. Details remain scarce on what exactly the studio is or what it could be working on. And that’s expected with it only just being formed.

Still, with Blundell leading another new studio, there are questions as to why he would do this again. To that point, he was very short and sweet with his answer.

“Third time’s the charm,” he said. “And if not, it’s the fourth time.”

After the closure of Dark Outlaw Games, Blundell gave a little bit of insight into what he was working on. The game, he said, wasn’t a live service title, and that it was something that would have had fans “very excited”.

With MagicFractal, the hope is that Blundell’s luck makes a turn for the better. Since leaving Treyarch in 2020, Blundell has led two studios—Deviation Games and Dark Outlaw Games—, but neither was able to put out a game.
