Jeff Bezos is always in the middle of some new investment. The founder of Amazon, who hasn’t been the CEO of the company for years, and who has also become pretty well known because of his astronautics company Blue Origin, is now reportedly focused on a new venture.
The WSJ reported that the billionaire is in early talks to raise $100 billion for a new fund whose purpose would be to buy manufacturing companies and use AI technology to accelerate their path to automation. He recently traveled to the Middle East and Singapore to discuss funding for the project, and is said to be meeting with the world’s largest asset managers as part of his effort.

Described as a “manufacturing transformation vehicle,” the fund will buy companies in major industrial sectors such as chipmaking, defense, and aerospace, and is expected to rival SoftBank’s $100 billion, tech-focused Vision Fund.
This all comes after Bezos was appointed co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a new startup that is building artificial-intelligence models that are able to understand and simulate the physical world. The plan is to use the tech to boost the profitability of businesses.
Bezos still owns around 9% of Amazon, the company he founded in 1994, and has a reported net worth of $230.2 billion. But he hasn’t exactly been in the news because of his business endeavors lately, or his charitable contributions—unlike his ex, Mackenzie Scott. Instead, ever since Bezos married Lauren Sánchez in Venice, most of the headlines he’s appeared on have had to do with his new relationship.
It’s what happens when your wedding is such a big production, with a who’s who of celebrity guests.
Reportedly, these first few months of marriage have been an adjustment for the billionaire. “Lauren’s energy is non-stop,” a source told Rob Shuter, who described what the two were up to during the 2025 holiday season. “She was jumping, dancing, laughing — and Jeff was hanging on for dear life. He looked wiped.”
“He’s happy, but he’s clearly worn out trying to match her,” another source said.
Just recently, Bezos and Sánchez walked the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, and a small interaction between the two captured the internet’s attention. The two stopped at the red carpet to take photos pictures—and get unintentionally photobombed by Nicole Kidman—and then Sánchez was seen saying something to Bezos, who quickly walked out of the frame.
