ZT details his best player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday night’s matchup between the Pistons and Clippers.
Sunday’s six-game NBA slate wraps up with a Western Conference matchup from Los Angeles, where the Lakers take on the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers have been scuffling, and the Kings are coming off a win, so it should be an interesting way to wrap up a great sports Sunday. Let’s dive into the matchup and snag a few of the best player prop bets from DraftKings Sportsbook.
In the big picture of the matchup, the Lakers are heavy 13.5-point home favorites, while the game total is set at 232.5 points. The Lakers won the first matchup between these teams this season back on Oct. 26, 127-120. They’ll face off again three more times during the regular season.
The Kings are coming off a win over the Mavericks on Saturday, but they’re still only 8-23 on the season. The Lakers have a much better record at 19-10, but they have dropped three straight over the last eight days, and coach J.J. Redick ripped into his team after their Christmas Day beatdown at the hands of the visiting Rockets.
Both teams have plenty of interesting storylines and trends to consider, so let’s sort through the many options and pick out the top player prop bets for Sunday night’s finale:
Kings at Lakers Best Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Luka Doncic over 34.5 points (-119)
Normally, I try to avoid taking any player to post such a huge total, but this feels like too much of a perfect “get-right” spot for Luka and the Lakers. Doncic is clearly capable of scoring at least 35 points against the Kings, and after a frustrating few games, he should get all the work he can handle in this smashable matchup.
He only had 25 points in the team’s Christmas Day loss, which was his first game back after missing a game with a lower leg contusion, which he originally suffered in the team’s loss to the Clippers. He was under this total in that game as well with just 12 points. Before those two games, Luka had 35+ points in seven of his previous 11 games, dating back to the end of November.
While Luka is not on the injury report and should be a full go, his backcourt mate Austin Reaves (calf) is out, leaving even more work for Doncic.
Doncic missed the first meeting between these teams this season, but he should be ready to fill it up and help the Lakers right the ship on Sunday night.
Russell Westbrook 18+ points (+118)
The Kings have multiple veterans in the backcourt who have stopped with the Lakers, and both Westbrook and Dennis Schroder are getting more work for the Kings with Zach LaVine (ankle) and Keegan Murray (calf) out.
Westbrook has been volatile this season, but he has proven he can score points in bunches. He has scored over 20 points in each of his last three games, including 21 points in Saturday’s win over the Mavs.
He has gone over this point total in four of his five games since LaVine’s most recent injury, and on the season, he’s averaging 21.4 points in his eight games played with LaVine out of the lineup. If you want to be more aggressive, Westbrook to score 20+ points at +177 and to score 25+ at +490 is a ladder worth conjuring if you want to swing for the fences with a play in this late game.
Jake LaRavia over 3.5 rebounds (-156)
LaRavia’s role has fluctuated throughout the season, but he has flashed upside and could be part of the solution to filling in Reaves’ production, even though they don’t play the exact same position.
LaRavia has already been doing good work on the glass lately, getting over this prop in five straight games. He has 34 rebounds over that stretch, averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.
He only needs four rebounds to get the over on this prop, and with some extra minutes available, he should be able to reach the over on this prop Sunday night.
Bonus Parlay Pick: DeMar DeRozan over 3.5 assists (-148)
If you’re looking to use these props to create a Same Game Parlay (SGP) or as part of an SGPx, one other leg you can add to the mix is the over on DeRozan’s assists. The four legs in this post combine to be a +750 SGP, as you can see below.
DeRozan has taken on more playmaking responsibilities with LaVine and Murray out and has gone over this prop line in three straight games with a total of 23 assists to raise his average on the season to 3.7 assists per game.
