It’s official, Natali Alexander is here! The newly launched fashion brand is the new baby of Lady Gaga’s sister and frequent designer, Natali Germanotta. The name is a combination of her name and her husband, Alexander Dolan’s name. The pair are partners in the new business.
A limited edition drop cemented the launch
The very first official piece of the new fashion brand is a romantic, limited-edition silk scarf. According to Alexander, the piece is meant to evoke emotion and is a sign of what’s coming up for the pair’s future collections.
“A lot of inspiration was experiencing this dialectic between lightness and dark,” Natali explained to PEOPLE. “We wanted to make it look illuminated, but also have some darkness in it.” The piece is likened to stained glass, and while it may seem symmetrical at first glance, but no two pieces are alike. They’re all different.
The couple chose a scarf as their launch piece because it’s versatile and inclusive and can easily be woven into future pieces. Each scarf is stamped 1-350 to highlight how rare they are. Natali even kept number 13 for her as the number is significant.
“Getting to design with your partner and build something beautiful together, it’s really, really wonderful,” Natali said. “I want to keep number 13 because that’s how many years we’ve been together.”
The pair worked on the scarf and brand launch for about a year. Prior to this, Natali made her Las Vegas Fashion Week debut and opened a Las Vegas costume house. She also runs a design house out of New York City. Plus, she has dressed her fashion-forward superstar sister several times. Adding another business to her portfolio felt like the right move for the designer.
For Natali Alexander, the couple wants to create without adhering to any structure or timetable. Instead, they want to focus on designing unique pieces and releasing them once they’re ready to share with the world. As for what’s coming next, Natali said to expect a lot of androgyny and texture.
Lady Gaga shared the news of the scarf’s launch on her social media, sending a frenzy of traffic to her sister’s website.
“We wouldn’t be here without a lot of our family, our friends, our biggest supporters,” Natali shared. “We’re just really grateful.”
