Luka Doncic #77 of the Los Angeles Lakers warms up prior to the game against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on March 16, 2026 in Houston, Texas.

An anonymous Los Angeles Lakers staffer has shed light on what superstar guard Luka Doncic is like behind the scenes.

In an interview with Slovenian sports outlet Ekipa, the staffer praised Doncic for his “kindness” and “warmth” and for always looking out for various Lakers personnel, whether it’s ball boys, equipment staff, security personnel or video coordinators.

“If people knew what Luka is like for all of us, they would have the highest possible opinion of him,” the staffer said of Doncic.

“Just like we have. Whether it’s representatives of minorities or people who get a job despite some physical handicap. Whoever it is, Luka as a person and on the human side is a story that is even bigger than what he represents as a basketball player and star.”

Luka Doncic Praised for His ‘Kindness’

The staffer continued.

“I can’t even say nearly everything – but believe me, what he gives us with his kindness, warmth and understanding is worth the most,” he added.

Other staffers “nodded” in agreement with the aforementioned portrait of Doncic.

The comments are not necessarily surprising. Doncic spent over $340,000 when he gifted his teammates and other Lakers staffers e-bikes for Christmas. At the time, head coach JJ Redick spoke glowingly of Doncic’s “nice gesture” and generosity.

The Lakers staffer also mentioned that Doncic never takes credit for the Lakers’ success and has a team-first mentality behind the scenes.

“We feel like we are his,” the staffer said of Doncic.

“He really gives us that feeling with everything. And when I say ‘we won’ when he wins or his team wins, it’s not just an expression. I really feel that way. Because we are his and we win with him, he lets us know that every day,” he added.

Lakers on 6-Game Winning Streak

Doncic, the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week, has been in scorching form lately, leading the Lakers to an 8-1 record in March and a 6-0 winning streak.

In his last six games, Doncic has tallied 227 points, 55 rebounds, 46 assists, 13 steals, and seven blocks with a net rating of +15.2. According to ESPN Insights, Doncic’s six-game points per game average of 37.8 is the highest by a Laker since the late Kobe Bryant, who averaged 39.5 points during a similar stretch in the 2011-12 season.

Doncic leads the NBA with 32.9 points per game, along with 8.5 assists, 7.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He is nearly a lock to earn his sixth All-NBA First Team honor this year after missing out last year when he played only 50 games due to injuries.

The Lakers aim to extend their win streak when they face the Houston Rockets on Wednesday in a rematch of Monday’s game. The matchup is especially vital, as the Lakers (43-25) hold a 1.5-game lead over the Rockets (41-26) for the third seed in the highly competitive West, and the two teams are tied at one win apiece in their regular-season series. The Lakers can secure the tiebreaker with a win on Wednesday, which could significantly boost their chances of finishing with a higher seed.
