RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) -LeadCon took over the Historic Homestake Opera House this weekend, offering games, cosplay, and cult-classic movies.
The all-ages event features tabletop games, video games, and family activities. Vendors sold art, collectibles, and fan merchandise.
Attendees can participate in a cosplay contest.
Paul Brown, a vendor selling swords and knives, said he wanted to share his product information with a new group of fans.
“It’s new, and being able to be here, and to just help with the information about my products because I do a whole bunch of large cons,” Brown said. “Also being able to let people know what they have for choices.”
Daniel Evans, owner of Queen City Dicery, displayed dice sets for Dungeons and Dragons, character sheets, and game accessories. He said dice are the most popular item.
“Just dice because lots of people call themselves dice goblins, and it’s because they collect hoards of dice,” Evans said. “It’s almost like how some people would collect baseball cards, or anything like that.”
Organizers said the event aims to bring pop culture fans together.
