Greece, N.Y. — Leaders in Greece voted to eliminate a program that has cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past four years.
BACKGROUND: Greece town supervisor proposes end to management sick leave payouts
The board chose to roll back a program that allowed certain management employees to get the full payout of unused sick time and, once retired, health insurance at no cost.
New town supervisor Jeff McCann called it an “egregious policy,” something he learned about when he took office seven weeks ago.
McCann received a round of applause from community members.
