Get ready to turn back the clock and experience a day full of nostalgia, music, and small-town charm at the Leeds Downtown Walking Tour: Leeds in the 1960s on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (rain date: April 25).

Hosted in the heart of Leeds, this immersive event invites visitors of all ages to relive the sights, sounds and stories that shaped the community during one of America’s most iconic decades.

“Far out, Leeds!” This year’s walking tour transforms downtown into a living, breathing tribute to the 1960s—complete with reenactors, classic cars, live music, and interactive experiences that bring local history to life.

A Full Day of Festivities in Downtown Leeds

Visitors will enjoy a variety of engaging experiences throughout the day:

— Living History Reenactors

Meet characters from Leeds’ past who will share stories that shaped the community.

— Classic Cars on Display

Cruise into the past with vintage vehicles from the 1960s. Chrome, tailfins, and muscle cars will line the streets for all to admire.

— Live Music at the Roxy Theater Stage (8th Avenue)

The iconic Roxy Theater will host a full lineup of entertainment:

10–11 a.m.: Leeds High School Jazz Band

11 a.m.–12 p.m.: 1960s Music Contest featuring local performers dressed as legendary artists

12–2 p.m.: The Buicks performing classic ’60s hits

— All Aboard at the Depot

Step into history at the Leeds Railway Depot and experience what it was like to purchase a passenger train ticket during the golden age of rail travel and meet members of the Locomotive Society.

— 1960s Museum

Step back in time with the 1960s Museum at Leeds Jane Culbreth Library and view Leeds memorabilia unique to this time period. Items like the Dental Clinic Trophy will be on display.

— Food, Vendors and Family Fun

Enjoy local restaurants, food trucks, shopping, and plenty of opportunities to dance, laugh, and connect with the community.
