Alienware is rolling out some banging deals right now on Amazon, and if you’re after one of its high refresh monitors for less, now is a great time. This Alienware FHD, 500Hz gaming monitor is $150 off in a limited-time deal, and is reduced from $549.99 to $399.99. Pricey for a small, FHD monitor? Yes. Worth it if you’re a competitive gamer? Absolutely. This display is designed for those who want to game at seriously high framerates and have something with a response time low enough to do so without running into motion blur and ghosting. It’s also for those who, like us, are big fans of the whole Alienware aesthetic, which is characterized by premium materials, futuristic design details, and overall fantastic build quality. Overall, for under $400, we think it’s well worth considering.

Alienware AW2524HF gaming monitor

Key features of this Alienware gaming monitor
500Hz refresh rate with 0.05ms response time
So this is the big ‘selling point’ of this monitor, as this kind of refresh rate is designed with extremely high fps gaming in mind, which only really makes sense if you’re playing competitively. This will allow us to reach up to 500fps, and its super-low response time will keep motion blur and ghosting to a minimum, ensuring you can keep track of opponents’ movements, even when everything is going a million miles a minute.
1080p resolution and 24.5 inches
FHD is all you really need for competitive gaming, and a preferred choice for many; however, it looks best when it’s on a smaller screen. There’s also a competitive advantage to smaller screens like this one, as if you go too large, you may have to rely too heavily on peripheral vision to spot opponents on the side of the screen.
FreeSync Premium
This is absolutely vital for high fps gaming and essential for competitive play. Where it levels up from the base level of FreeSync is with its LFC technology, which generates frames when fps dips below the monitor’s lower refresh rate threshold. That means that everything remains smooth, even if you run into something that drops framerates suddenly, which has its obvious benefits when playing competitively.
sRGB 99% color
All the fps in the world don’t mean much if you’re playing something that looks dreary and drab, but thankfully, that’s not the case with this monitor. 99% sRGB means that colors will look vibrant and pop off the screen, bringing some life to whatever you’re playing. And with titles like Call of Duty looking, well, more bombastic than they used to, we’d call that a win.

Things to consider
This is for competitive gamers primarily, so it’s not exactly designed to be versatile. One type of monitor you may be interested in for pure versatility is a dual-mode 4K/ FHD option instead. These are usually 28 inches, and can switch between 4K/ 144Hz and FHD/360Hz (in most cases), reducing the digital screen size for FHD to keep you at a competitive advantage. If I wanted something that I could use as productvity and entertainment monitor, as well as for high fps gaming, then I’d go with one of those. Check out ASUS ROG dual-mode monitors, some of which are surprisingly affordable. Our top gaming monitor deals can be found below if you’re still on the hunt.
