United keen on Diomande

Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba are targets for Manchester United.

The Daily Express believes The Red Devils are plotting to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window.

The paper writes: ”Manchester United are reported to be showing interest in RB Leipzig prospect Yan Diomande as the club’s summer recruitment strategy starts to take shape. United are aiming to finish the campaign by clinching Champions League qualification, which would strengthen their summer spending power.

”United sit third in the Premier League standings with just seven fixtures remaining, and are in the driving seat to secure a Champions League spot this season. A top-four or top-five finish would enable United to enter the transfer market and attempt to sign the finest talent on offer, and it appears preparations are already underway for this summer.

”Diomande has also been linked with Liverpool in recent months, suggesting the Red Devils may face competition to land the gifted Ivory Coast international.

”The 19-year-old is referenced in the report as being on United’s radar, though he is anticipated to attract attention from numerous other European clubs. United are also being linked, yet again, with Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.”

Liverpool also keen on Diomande

The Mirror also notes Manchester United’s interest in Diomande, but reports on other clubs being keen on the player.

Liverpool most notably are in the market for a wide forward as they prepare for Mohamed Salah’s exit.

However, it may be tough to tempt him to Liverpool, as the paper says: ”That’s because Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in the forward. With 10 goals and seven assists to his name in the Bundesliga alone this term, the Ivorian has certainly impressed.

”Under contract until 2030, however, Leipzig are in no rush to sell the youngster, and could in turn ask above market value to let him leave the Red Bull Arena in the coming months.

”It comes as Diomande is not the only star who has been tipped with replacing Salah this summer, with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise also seeing their names churned through the rumour mill. As for Salah, meanwhile, his next club also remains in speculation.”

United given Baleba boost

The Evening Standard gives its own update on Manchester United’s chances of landing Carlos Baleba.

Their story suggests that poor form for the midfielder means that his current side could reduce their £100 million valuation.

The paper explains: ”Manchester United have been handed a considerable boost in their pursuit of Carlos Baleba, with Brighton set to soften their stance on their nine-figure asking price.

”The Cameroon midfielder was heavily linked with a move to United last summer, but The Red Devils were put off by Brighton’s quoted fee of over £100 million.

”But United are expected to renew their interest this summer, with Brighton reportedly ready to lower that asking price.

”Baleba’s form in this campaign has not quite matched that of his superb 2024/25 season.

”United reportedly remain interested in the player, and the admiration is mutual. They are expected to go back in for him this summer, with a deal seemingly more feasible this year than last.”

Liverpool eye Murillo

The Daily Star relays speculation that Liverpool could make a move for Nottingham Forest central defender Murillo.

The 23-year-old Brazilian could cost around £69 million, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and others also credited with an interest in the player.

The paper notes: ”Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo and have a ‘keen interest’ in the Brazil international central defender.

”The Reds could table a substantial bid around the £69m mark for the 23-year-old and view him as ‘a possible long-term option’ to replace the ageing [Virgil] Van Dijk.

”And he is also said to have attracted the interest of Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
