Transcript:
DJ Jules: I have some special guests who are going to perform live for all you KGNU listeners. Hello there!
lookatfiona: Hi!
DJ Jules: We have lookatfiona here at the Boulder studio with us. How are you all today?
lookatfiona: We’re doing well. Thank you so much for having us.
DJ Jules: Thank you for being here. Let’s help the KGNU listeners understand what brings you in today to share your music, sound, and style with us.
lookatfiona: We just released our second EP, and we have a show at Globe Hall on the 21st. We’re lookatfiona, and we wanted to come play some music. We love KGNU. We were geeking out when you asked us to come in. We’re really honored to be here.
DJ Jules: I love it. I’m so excited to have you here and to hear about the new music and the Globe Hall show on the 21st.
lookatfiona: We’ve been busy.
DJ Jules: I’m right there with you. Let’s jump into your first song. For these KGNU listeners, what are you going to play?
lookatfiona: This song is called “4play.” It’s the single we released from our EP.
DJ Jules: “4play.” I like it. Let’s hear it.
[Performance]
DJ Jules: That was so fun. For KGNU listeners just tuning in, we have lookatfiona live in the studio. Where are you based out of?
lookatfiona: We’re currently based in Denver, right in the city.
DJ Jules: Love it. You have this new EP out—how has the process been? Where are you at with it, and how does it feel?
lookatfiona: Recording is such a collaborative and hands-on process for us. This is our first project with the full band contributing creatively, so it’s been really cool.
DJ Jules: When you say collaborative, does that include writing as well, or just recording?
lookatfiona: Writing too. For that last song, the first time we all played it together was actually in the studio. The writing and recording came together beautifully for all of us.
lookatfiona: Usually Jeremy and I bring in the bones of a song, and then everyone adds their own flavor. We really try to make space for everyone’s ideas.
DJ Jules: I love it. Let’s introduce the band so the KGNU listeners know who’s here and what you play.
lookatfiona:
I’m Jeremy. I play guitar and sing.
I’m Kennedy. I play guitar and sing.
I’m Gabby. I play bass.
I’m Charlie. I play drums.
And our manager Theo is here in the corner with us.
DJ Jules: Hi, Theo! We’ve got the whole crew. Alright, you just played one song—what’s the next one?
lookatfiona: The next song is called “I Do.” It was the first song we ever released.
DJ Jules: Very cool. Let’s hear it.

lookatfiona: This next song is called “Willow Song.”

DJ Jules: That was awesome. The shift between those songs was beautiful—each powerful in its own way. For KGNU listeners just tuning in, we have Denver-based lookatfiona in the studio. They’re performing live at Globe Hall on the 21st.
lookatfiona: We’re really excited because it’s our tour homecoming show. We just got back from our first time on the road. We played seven shows, and Denver will be our “we’re back” celebration.
DJ Jules: Welcome home! Where did the tour take you?
lookatfiona: We went to Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Utah.
DJ Jules: Amazing. Any standout moment?
lookatfiona: San Diego. We played at an outdoor house show on a hill with a bunch of goats on the property.
DJ Jules: You played for goats?
lookatfiona: Yes. And there was a miniature German Shepherd who started howling along during one of our softer songs. It was adorable.
DJ Jules: That is incredible. Do we have footage?
lookatfiona: We have photos, and Theo has a video. We’ll post it on Instagram.
DJ Jules: Perfect. Where can KGNU listeners follow you and find your music?
lookatfiona: You can find us everywhere. We’re on Instagram at lookatfiona.mp3, on TikTok as lookatfiona, and we have a website at lookatfiona.com. Our music is streaming everywhere—Spotify and all platforms. Or come see us at Globe Hall on the 21st. If you want cheaper tickets, message us on Instagram.
DJ Jules: I love it. Connect directly. Before we wrap up, you have one more song for the KGNU listeners. What are you playing?
lookatfiona: This is the self-titled track from our second EP. The previous two songs were from our first EP. This one is called “Fiona.”
DJ Jules: Amazing. Here we go.
