After missing the Los Angeles Lakers’ previous two games for personal reasons, NBA scoring leader Luka Dončić revealed the cause of his recent absences: the birth of his second child with fiancée, Anamaria Goltes. He’s expected to return to the Lakers on Sunday.
The Lakers went 1-1 during Dončić’s absence, including a 126-105 loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday night. The 26-year-old Slovenian guard remains a dominant force in the league, with per-game averages of 35.3 points, 8.9 assists and 8.9 rebounds.
Dončić and Goltes, who already have a 2-year-old daughter together, celebrated the birth of their second child, Olivia. The All-Star returned home to Slovenia this week to be by Goltes’ side for the delivery, later sharing a sweet first glimpse of Olivia with fans on his Instagram account.
The post quickly racked up thousands of reactions, including a “Congrats Brate!” from Lakers teammate LeBron James, using a Slovenian term for “brother.”

The Lakers said Dončić is off the injury report and will return when the Lakers face the Philadelphia 76ers in the final leg of a three-game road trip. James (sciatica, arthritis) is listed as questionable, and Marcus Smart (back) is out.
