The Greek government confirmed Thursday that French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Athens, corroborating an earlier report by Kathimerini.
In an interview at the state broadcaster ERT, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said that the visit is expected for the renewal of the Strategic Partnership Agreement on Defense and Security, which expires this year.
An exact date for Macron’s arrival has not yet been set.
On national issues, Marinakis cited government interventions in energy agreements, defense procurement and Exclusive Economic Zone accords with Italy and Egypt, noting Turkey’s reactions. He also firmly denied any consideration of Greek involvement in potential military operations in Iran.
