Madison celebrated the start of the holiday season today with a historic open house at the Roundhouse followed by a festive community orchestra concert.
MADISON, Ala. — The heart of Madison served as the backdrop for a day of local tradition Sunday as the community gathered to celebrate the holiday season through local history and live music.
From the rails of Front Street to the pews on Church Street, residents had two distinct opportunities to ring in the month of December.
The festivities began at 3 p.m. at the Madison Roundhouse on Front Street. The Madison Station Historical Preservation Society hosted its annual Christmas Open House, inviting guests to explore one of the city’s most significant historic landmarks.
For the event, the Roundhouse was decked out in traditional holiday decor, offering a look back at the city’s architectural and cultural heritage.
As the open house concluded, the celebration shifted toward the arts. At 5 p.m., the Madison City Community Orchestra took the stage at Madison Methodist Church on Church Street for their annual Christmas concert.
The performance featured traditional holiday favorites performed by volunteer musicians from across the North Alabama region.
The marketing director for the orchestra says they are excited to perform this evening.
“We’re playing our Christmas concert with some performers from around the county. With the children’s theater choir and the Madison Methodist Chancel Choir, said Rachel Wyatt, “And we have our full symphonic orchestra here tonight, 90 plus players.
Both events were free to the public.
