One person has died after being swept away by floodwaters in Athens, as severe storms wreak havoc in Greece.
Greek media said on Thursday that the man was carried away by the water and trapped under a car in a suburb of the capital.
The southern Aegean and the region around Athens have been particularly hard hit, with heavy rain and hurricane-force winds, according to the reports.
On the island of Rhodes, the fire department has responded to more than 50 calls, primarily due to fallen trees. Power lines, streetlights and boats have also been damaged.
Civil defence authorities sent text messages to the population urging people to limit their movements.
Ferry services were suspended in many parts of the country, and at least 10 flights to Rhodes were cancelled or rerouted on Wednesday. Air traffic has since nearly returned to normal.
Strong southerly winds carried Saharan dust to Crete and the Cyclades islands of Santorini, Naxos and Mykonos, turning the sky red and reducing visibility.
Meteorologists continue to forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail in some places, with conditions not expected to ease until Friday evening. A severe weather warning is in place for Crete.
