Manchester teacher turns syrup into science lesson


Maple syrup is at the center of a science lesson happening at Hillside Middle School in Manchester.Science teacher Mary Hartigan-Demers put donated buckets and taps up on a group of sugar maples across from the school this year. The lessons will include the history of maple syrup, along with calculating the sap-to-syrup ration the students will get while boiling it down. They are also tracking daily temperatures to measure any connection to the amount of sap they are collecting.
