Dallas Mavericks owner Miriam Adelson has not been shy about her support of Donald Trump over the years.
The 80-year-old billionaire was one of Trump’s biggest donors for the 2024 election, according to Forbes. And she is now urging Trump to fight to run for a third presidential term in 2028.
During a White House Hanukkah party earlier this month, Miriam Adelson said that she spoke with attorney Alan Dershowitz about the possibility of Trump running for a third term, according to The Dallas Morning News.
“I say Alan, I agree with you, so we can do it,” Adelson said, according to the report.
A portion of the crowd then started chanting “four more years,” according to The Dallas Morning News.
Trump then told the crowd that Adelson pledged to donate another $250 million if Trump runs for president again, to which Adelson replied, “I will give.”
The Constitution prohibits Trump for running for a third term. However, in the past the president has said that there are ways he could make it work.
“There are methods which you could do it,” Trump said in the spring, according to NBC News.
He added, per NBC: “A lot of people want me to do it. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.”
Later, in October, Trump acknowledged that it’s unlikely he can run for a third term, according to ABC.
“I would say that if you read it, it’s pretty clear. I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad, but we have a lot of great people,” he said.
As for Miriam Adelson, she bought the Dallas Mavericks from the previous owner, Mark Cuban, in December of 2023.
