After Italy, neighboring Greece has also taken measures to relieve citizens as a result of the increase in fuel prices since the start of the war in the Middle East.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that the aid package, worth 300 thousand euros over two months, contains four measures: fuel subsidy, Digital Fuel Card, subsidy for the purchase of fertilizers for agriculture, and compensation for ferry companies with mandatory discounts.
Measures:
1. Diesel fuel is subsidized in the distribution network at 16 cents/liter – the benefit in the final price (including VAT) is 20 cents/liter.
2. A Digital Fuel Card is issued to support the increase in gasoline prices – it will be used at gas stations, public transport and taxis. The average subsidy is 36 cents/liter – with an average monthly consumption of 70 liters.
3. To relieve farmers from significant increases in fertilizer costs, 15% of their purchase income is subsidized.
4. A compensation is being imposed on ferry companies, which will be linked to mandatory discounts on tickets, in order to keep prices at last year’s levels.
” The government remains and will remain by the side of every Greek citizen ,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
