Meteora Greece

Meteora, after Mount Athos, is the largest and continous presence since the establishment of the first ascetics so far a monastic ensemble in Greece. From historical evidence, we conclude that the Meteora monasteries were all thirty. Of these thirty monasteries, the six operate until today and receive a multitude of pilgrims. But there are many smaller monasteries abandoned. Most of them were founded in the 14th century
